Instagram carousel and panorama splitter
Split a panorama or wide photo into 2 to 20 Instagram slides that join seamlessly when swiped. Choose 1:1, 4:5 or 3:4, frame the crop, and download every slide at full quality.
Runs in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.
Drop a panorama or wide photo
PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF or AVIF up to 80 MB and 100 megapixels. The image stays on your device.
How to split a panorama into Instagram carousel slides
- Drop an image onto the panel, or choose one. Wide panoramas work best, but any photo can be split.
- Pick the number of slides (up to 20) and the shape: 1:1 square, 4:5 portrait or 3:4, which Instagram has supported for photos and carousels since 2025.
- If the image and the strip are different shapes, choose Crop to fill and drag to pick what stays, or Fit with background to keep everything and fill the gaps with a colour.
- Check the slide previews, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP. Post them in order, 1 first.
Frequently asked questions
Will the slides line up exactly?
Yes. Every slide is drawn from the original image with the same scale and position, shifted by exactly one slide width, so the last column of one slide continues straight into the first column of the next. There are no gaps or repeated pixels at the seams.
Which size should I use, 1080 px or source pixels?
1080 px wide matches what Instagram displays (1080 × 1080, 1080 × 1350 or 1080 × 1440), so it’s the safe default.
Source pixels exports at your image’s own resolution, so nothing is resized. It’s useful for archiving or other platforms; Instagram will downscale the slides itself.
Why is part of my image cropped?
Three 4:5 slides form a strip 2.4 times wider than it is tall. If your photo has a different shape, something has to give: either the edges are cropped, or the strip gets bands of background colour. The tool tells you how much, and suggests a slide count that fits your image better.
How many slides can a carousel have?
Instagram carousels take up to 20 photos or videos (the limit was raised from 10 in 2024), and the splitter supports 2 to 20 slides. Fewer, larger slides usually read better on a phone than many thin ones.
Should I export PNG or JPEG?
PNG is lossless and keeps every pixel, but files are larger. JPEG at quality 90 or above is visually identical for photos and much smaller. Instagram re-compresses uploads either way.
Is there a size limit?
Images up to 80 MB and 100 megapixels can be opened. Each exported slide is kept under 16.7 megapixels, the canvas limit of Safari on iPhone and iPad, so exports work on phones too. A ZIP of all slides is limited to 120 megapixels in total; that only matters for very large “Source pixels” exports, where you can download the slides one by one instead.
How a seamless Instagram carousel works
A seamless (or “panorama”) carousel is one wide image cut into equal slides. When people swipe, each slide picks up exactly where the last one ended, so the post reads as one continuous picture. For that to work, every slide must have the same size and the cuts must fall at exact multiples of the slide width: at 1080 px wide, slide 2 starts at x = 1080, slide 3 at x = 2160, and so on.
Cropora draws every slide from your original image with the same scale and position, so there are no gaps, overlaps or repeated pixels at the seams. Your profile grid shows only the first slide, so make sure it works on its own.
Pick the shape first
4:5 and 3:4 slides take more room in the feed than squares. All slides in a carousel share the same shape.
Match the slide count to your image
A 3.6:1 panorama fits about four 4:5 slides or three 1:1 slides with little cropping. The tool suggests the best count for your image.
Mind the seams
Faces, text and logos split across two slides are hard to read. Move them a little with the position sliders.
Crop or pad
“Crop to fill” trims the edges to fill every slide; “Fit with background” keeps the whole image and fills the gaps with a colour.
Full-quality export
Download 1080 px wide slides for Instagram, or keep your image’s own resolution. PNG or JPEG, one by one or as a ZIP.
